I love a good Halloween DIY, but only when it’s actually easy.
Give me something I can make with things I already have at home, something the kids can help with, and something that makes Halloween feel a little more fun without turning into a whole project.
So I put together a few of my favorite cute and easy Halloween DIYs for kids. Some are crafts, some are little treats, and some are just simple ways to make October feel a little a little more magical.
1. Make little Spider Suckers
Turn ordinary lollipops into the cutest little Halloween spiders with just black pipe cleaners and googly eyes.
Wrap the pipe cleaners around the sucker for little legs, add a couple of eyes, and you have a tiny Halloween treat that kids can help make.
These would be so cute for a Halloween party, classroom treat, or just a fun October surprise.

2. Make paper bats
There's something about a bunch of little paper bats flying across a wall that instantly makes Halloween feel more fun.
My free printable bat template makes this one really easy. Print the template, cut out the bats, and use them to trace different sizes onto black paper. Add little details with a white pen or thin permanent marker, then tape them to a wall, doorway, or window.
Try making them in a few different sizes so they look like they're flying across the room.

3. Make ghost balloon handout gifts
This one is probably one of my favorites because it takes almost no time.
Blow up white balloons, draw simple ghost faces on them, and add white crepe paper or streamers underneath for the ghost's “body.”
You can use them as Halloween decorations, party decor, or even make a little group of floating ghosts for a Halloween party.
Want to turn them into a little Halloween surprise? I made these “Floating by to say boo” printable tags to go with them.

4. Turn suckers into little ghosts
Another easy Halloween treat: turn white suckers into tiny ghosts.
Wrap each sucker with a small piece of white tissue paper, tie it underneath with a little ribbon or string, and draw on two simple eyes.
They're so simple, but I love how cute they look all together.
Make a bunch for a Halloween party, hand them out to neighbors, or let the kids help make a few for their friends.

5. Make a paper chain Halloween Countdown
Kids love counting down to Halloween, and you don't need anything complicated to make it special.
Use a simple paper countdown and let your kids mark off each day in October. You could add a tiny activity for some of the days, like watching a Halloween movie, making a spooky treat, going for a Halloween walk, reading a Halloween book, or picking out pumpkins.
It doesn't have to be a big activity every day. Sometimes having something small to look forward to is the fun part.

6. Make your own Halloween Flags
A few little paper flags can make a surprisingly big difference when you're decorating for Halloween.
Hang them across a mantel, shelf, playroom, snack table, or party table for an easy little Halloween moment.
I love using printable decorations like this because you can print them when you need them, cut them out, and you're done. No giant craft project required.

7. Print a Halloween Haunted House Coloring Page
Sometimes the easiest activity is the best one. Print out a little haunted house and let the kids decorate it however they want. They can color it, add bats and ghosts, draw silly monsters in the windows, or make the whole house completely pink if that's what they're into.
It's an easy activity to pull out on a chilly October afternoon, and you don't need much more than a printer and some crayons.

8. Make a Halloween Treat Station
Set up a small basket or tray with Halloween treats, stickers, coloring pages, or little surprises for the kids to choose from throughout October.
It doesn't have to be fancy. A cute bowl, a few Halloween decorations, and some of their favorite little things are enough to make it feel special.
You could even add a few of the DIY treats from this list, like the spider suckers or ghost suckers.
The best Halloween ideas are the ones you'll actually do
Halloween doesn't have to mean spending hours making decorations or coming up with elaborate activities.
Sometimes it's just a few paper bats on the wall, a silly ghost balloon, or a little treat waiting for your kids after school.
Those are the little things that make October feel special.
You don't need a perfectly decorated house or a huge craft project. Just a few simple moments that make your kids feel like Halloween is a little extra magical this year.
And honestly, those are my favorite kinds of Halloween projects
